Everything Is Changing.

Y’all notice not much is sticking anymore? I can’t remember too many hit songs, movies, or memorable performances from the past two years that have really stuck & made a mark. Funny thing is movies & music are still being released at a rapid rate, perhaps too rapid.  Netflix at the beginning of the year said they were committed to releasing one new movie every week for 2021, there’s a new blockbuster movie to stream on HBO Max & Disney Plus Premier (their $30 deal) almost every month as opposed to going to the theaters, & popular artists from pre-COVID are releasing new music almost every week.  Looking at the numbers you begin to notice something is wrong though. Let’s start with the music industry.  Billie Eillish one of the biggest pop stars at the moment released her second studio album this year & according to RIAA certification her previous album “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” was number one in the US & went 4x Platinum. Around 4,...

The Fall of Skywalker (Click Bait Title 😂)

What can I say about the new Star Wars? Is it a stinker? Not necessarily. Is it great? Not really. It’s sort of right down the middle which actually can be more frustrating than the other    presented examples. “In the middle” movies tend to come with indecision, mixed emotions from those watching, loose ends, & an all around inconsistent tone. This basically describes “The Rise of Skywalker.” When “The Force Awakens” came out in December 2015 there seemed to be so much promise for the future of the Star Wars franchise in Disney’s hands. New exciting characters, some possible intriguing back stories, & just humongous possibilities for the seemingly endless sci-fi universe. Then came “The Last Jedi” & Star Wars fans were split. Some people fully supported the movie & called it one of the best Star Wars movies of all time, while others actually signed a petition to revoke it from the official Star Wars canon. A 50/50 response but even with all of that drama ...

I know its popular but it made me uncomfortable

How I felt when an exciting, new, & refreshing TV show came out: It was the talk of the town, it was in memes, all over the internet, EVERYONE knew about it, recommended it, & then I finally watched it. The acting - great, the story - superb, but the overall picture a bit uncomfortable, a feeling you could only describe as not quite right. But I pushed through & I binge watched the entire first batch of episodes (somewhat painfully) & still I looked forward to the next season. About a year passed, it came around, & I started watching it again. & I thought to myself maybe things will be different this time, maybe things will be better? So it seemed, then I started to watch again (the new second season) & that same feeling I tried to numb before crept on me again. If that feeling were words they would simply be saying, “You shouldn’t be watching this.” But it was popular! It was the talk of the town, it was just entertainment! Right? But what if you ...

Netflix’s Queer Eye Season 1 Episode 5, MIND BLOWN.

First of all shout out to the people who have made this show & the multi colored lens of diversity they have decided to shoot it through.  You can honestly tell episode by episode that the core values of this show are diversity, respect, & hearing out others even when their views differ from yours.  I might as well get to the good part I’m building up to. In episode 5 of season one of the show Queer Eye (SPOILER ALERT!!!!) the fab 5 (an all gay men makeover crew) have an interaction with their client who happens to be a Christian. & after a couple of days of their interactions together, the Christian dude beautifully spills out his heart to the men who have just blessed him GREATLY & changed his life DRASTICALLY.  Near the end of the episode he begins by sharing the vision of how his wife & him had been praying over these few days of all the guys hanging out together & how the couple really intentionally above all else wanted the guys ...
